Arizona 2010

TUCSON, Ariz. -- My annual visit to Arizona came at the end of April this year and I started things off with a tour of the University of Arizona with Everest Aslan. I think I've convinced him to apply. He just needs to get through a few milestones...eating solid foods, walking, high school, basics. No worries. He's got time. He's only 6 months old.

First things first, I introduced Everest to the Daily Wildcat. A daily newspaper reading habit is important and should begin in the earliest stages of development. (Even if he is trying to eat it. Don't worry, Clare, he didn't get beyond what's pictured.)

Next we walked over to the Old Main Fountain. It was a little too bright and sunny for us to stick around but Everest seemed very relaxed here.

Since Everest comes from parents gifted in science, we stopped by the science arch (OK, I don't remember what it's called...I spent all my time at the social science buildings.)
Perhaps it was my introduction to the building that didn't interest him.
Perhaps...

This is where the Gallagher Theater used to stand. Everest's Daddy used to play, ahem, I mean work there.

As a freshman, this is where Everest and his colleagues will be buried for their first year to encourage student retention.

And at the Newman Center, Everest can contemplate social justice issues...or his belly button. Whatever.
