Driving the Keys

And with our lunch at the Hogfish Bar and Grill complete we said goodbye to our campsite. OK, we actually said goodbye to the campsite before we went to eat lunch, but I forgot to post this picture from my cell phone. Also, I actually took this picture when we first arrived. By the time we left on Saturday, those campsites were filled with people.

Heading north there were random shots of random things we found along the way. There out my window was the landscaping that cropped up on the old road that had been blown up a few times for movies.

I was driving, so I asked for some assistance getting photos of the water and all its beautiful colors. Here's one of Sam's attempts out the window.

Later, while my camera was charging, Sam fell asleep. I took this with my camera phone. Click it to see what he missed while he was sleeping.

One of the guys shot me driving down the road.

Yay! The water and the sky...all the pretty colors. Sorry, don't know who took it. I think it was Sam though.

I feel relatively certain Sam took this photo because there's something happening down there.

Sam also took this one.

OK, I've gotten the photos out of order. Or Sam really slept for a loooong time.

Wait, yes, Sam did sleep for a long time. By the way, these two photos Josh took with my newly re-charged camera!

We stopped in Key Largo for a swim and so the guys could test out their new snorkeling gear. Not a bad stop at all.
Beautiful spot. The clouds look ominous, but I took these as we were getting ready to leave. It was sunny, bright and fabulous when we were there swimming about.

Several families around too. But still a nice afternoon swim.

Ahhh...

Like a postcard.

Here's where we were swimming.

Josh took the wheel, but as usual, he's easily distracted by loud blinking trucks. I snapped this picture.

Look! I found a rainbow. A promise of our return? I hope so.
An attempt to get a shot of the sign. I'll do better next time.

The rainbow got bigger and if you look closely I could see the whole bow from one end to another.
Sam was gracious enough to let us stay with him at his place in Vero Beach that night. We headed to the oceanfront to get a bite to eat. Josh found this line on the menu particularly funny.

So, when we ordered, I asked if a soup they offered had carrots in it (many of you know I'm allergic). Nope, OK, so I ordered. The diligent waiter double-checked and found that it did have carrots. No problem. Thanks for checking, I'll have the calamari. Here's what it looked like when it arrived. (DOH!) Later, the waiter brought me a free ice cream sundae. Also, I am not dead. Yay!
