Good bye, Key West.

Goodbye Key West
We were in no particular hurry to leave, which worked out since we had a few more things we wanted to get done. First things first...breakfast. Hogfish Bar and Grill had made our list of places to stop - thank you TripAdvisor. It was very close to our campsite...closer than we realized. Although this made us laugh as we were driving toward it:
No, this wasn't it. The sign was missing an arrow. But it made us laugh hard enough to stop and take the photo.
Sadly, the advertisement we saw was wrong and the Hogfish Bar and Grill was not serving breakfast. No worries, we were intrigued by the Key Lime Pie on a stick option and so we headed back into Key West for pie. I mean, breakfast.
Seems promising.
It. Was. AWESOME!!! The pie wasn't frozen, just the chocolate. And the pie included the graham cracker crust. It was LITERALLY key lime pie on a stick (covered in chocolate). I want one every time I think of it. Sam, um, you're the closest...would you be a dear?
After "breakfast" we headed out for a little walk to find what is now an artificial reef off the Florida coast.
And to our left, the USS Vandenberg. This is what it looked like above water and here's what it looks like now: http://www.sinkthevandenberg.com/
Moving on, we headed to the post office so I could drop a post card in the mail. While the guys waited outside, they told a joke...why did the chicken cross the road? (I think it's because Sam or Josh was chasing it...)
Our next stop was to nothing. I mean, the zero mile marker. Neato, right?
And, here's the end.
And here's the end with an artsy tilt. Thanks, Sam.
Josh and I at the end.
We had gone to the beach the previous day, but I didn't take any photos. On our way out, I tried a few quick ones. Sadly, from this angle, you couldn't see all the colors of the water...but check out the view anyway.
Purty.
Very purty.
Still purty.
Sad. (photo courtesy of Sam)
Photo of the Key West sign...at least that's what it was supposed to be. So, um, Sam, you get paid to shoot photos?!
Josh's blue booby.
Lunch at the Hogfish Bar and Grill. Note the shrimp. It was the best shrimp I ever ate. I'm not sure I can even eat shrimp again anywhere else...it might ruin the memory.
We lay waste to the food. (this is also where I got to eat hogfish...after learning it was an actual type of fish and not a clever restaurant name. Hey, what do I know? Nothing.)
The Hogfish Bar and Grill.
We were right next to where the boats come in to deliver their haul. I liked the name of this ship. It spoke to me.
Another shot of the restaurant. Check out the fish sculpture. We were sitting near it.
Guess what? Chicken butts. Ha! Also, check out what they're all trying to eat.
Another shot of the restaurant as we get ready to leave.
